Grants for hiring R&D talent

Line 1 supports R&D projects that incorporate researchers already holding a PhD. The researcher participates directly in an industrial research project carried out within the company's productive facilities in the Basque Country.

The project and candidate must be consistent with the company's technological capabilities, research strategy and the activities to be developed.

Line 2 supports industrial research projects in which the recruited professional undertakes an industrial PhD linked to a research topic of strategic relevance to the company.

The doctoral work must form part of a research line developed by the company and lead to a doctoral thesis, combining academic training with research carried out in the business environment.

The underlying project must qualify as industrial research and represent an increase in the company's R&D activity. Bavion can structure the technological challenge, objectives, work plan, resources and expected results and connect them with the role of the researcher.

We also analyse the cost structure and applicable grant intensity according to the company profile and programme line.

The programme supports private companies and other eligible entities carrying out research and innovation initiatives in the Basque Country.

The proposed positions must be linked to projects in areas such as healthcare, ecological transition and the green economy, renewable energy, water and waste treatment, agri-food, digitalisation of services or data science.

The person recruited must be over 16 and under 30 years of age, unemployed and registered as a job seeker before the start of the contract.

The profile must be suitable for research, technology, technical R&D or other innovation-related functions. Research support personnel can also be included within the limits established by the programme.

Contracts must be full-time and have a minimum duration of 12 months, while the subsidy can cover a maximum period of two years.

Funding is calculated through fixed modules according to the employee's Social Security contribution group, covering salary and employer Social Security costs within the programme rules.

Following approval, the job offers must be managed through Lanbide. The beneficiary company then makes the final selection among eligible candidates and subsequently manages the recruitment, monitoring and justification requirements.

Torres Quevedo supports companies and other eligible private entities that recruit PhD researchers to work on defined R&D activities.

The recruitment must be linked to a project involving industrial research, experimental development or a technical feasibility study and should strengthen the organisation's technological and innovation capacity.

The proposed professional must hold a PhD and have a scientific and technical background consistent with the project to be undertaken.

A strong application must establish a clear relationship between the candidate's experience and expertise, the technological objectives of the project and the activities they will perform within the company.

The programme provides multi-year support for the employment costs associated with the PhD researcher, allowing the company to build research capacity over a longer period rather than financing a short-term recruitment need.

We analyse the contract, eligible employment costs and applicable funding intensity and integrate them into the project's economic planning.

We structure the R&D project, define the role and activities of the PhD researcher and prepare the technical, candidate and economic documentation required for the application.

After approval, we can support the company in maintaining documentary consistency between the proposed research activities, actual work performed and the technical and financial justification required over the funded period.
