NEOTEC grants for technology-based companies

R&D and entrepreneurship

Finance the development and growth of a company built around proprietary technology

NEOTEC supports young innovative companies whose business strategy is based on developing and exploiting proprietary technology or knowledge derived from research activities.

At Bavion, we assess company and technology eligibility, structure the Business Plan, prepare the technological, commercial and financial sections of the application, define the eligible budget and support the company throughout submission, execution and justification.

A strong NEOTEC application must demonstrate consistency between proprietary technology, the R&D strategy, the business model, the team and the resources required to develop the company.

Preparing your technology company for NEOTEC 2027?

Company and technology eligibility for NEOTEC

We assess whether the company, its age, capital structure, innovative nature and technological basis meet NEOTEC requirements before preparing the full application.

Determine whether your company fits the NEOTEC technology-based business profile

NEOTEC is aimed at commercial companies considered small and innovative, with their own legal personality and tax residence in Spain.

The company must meet both the SME requirements and the conditions required to be considered an innovative company under the applicable regulations.

Under the 2026 call, the company must have been incorporated no more than three years before the application deadline and at least six months before that deadline.

It must also have fully paid-up and registered share capital, or share capital plus share premium, of at least €20,000.

We analyse whether technology is genuinely at the core of the company's competitive differentiation and whether the Business Plan demonstrates continued technological development through proprietary R&D activities.

Models based primarily on providing services to third parties without developing proprietary technology do not fit the programme.

Before preparing the application, we review company age, corporate structure, technological basis, ownership of the technology, R&D roadmap, previous NEOTEC funding and other conditions that may affect eligibility.

Technology, market and Business Plan

We connect the technological basis of the company with its market opportunity, business model, team and medium-term growth strategy within one coherent Business Plan.

Demonstrate how proprietary technology becomes a viable business

We define the state of the art, the technological problem to be solved, the current maturity of the product, process or service, the technical barriers and the R&D roadmap required to advance the technology.

We also structure the strategy for protecting and exploiting intellectual and industrial property and the company's medium- and long-term technological objectives.

We structure the target market, customers, competitors, barriers to entry and the advantages provided by the company's technology compared with existing alternatives.

The analysis is translated into a business model, commercial strategy and realistic revenue assumptions for national and international markets.

We structure the entrepreneurial, technical and management team, highlighting relevant experience, scientific and technological capabilities, roles, commitment and the resources required to execute the Business Plan.

We connect R&D activities, recruitment, investment, financing, commercial development and expected business growth within a roadmap consistent with the company's technological strategy.

NEOTEC funding and eligible business costs

We structure the project budget around the resources required to execute the Business Plan and review the eligibility and documentary requirements applicable to each expenditure category.

Finance the resources required to develop the technology and build the company

Under the 2026 call, NEOTEC generally finances up to 70% of the eligible budget, with a maximum grant of €250,000.

Projects incorporating an eligible new PhD hire can reach up to 85% and €325,000. The eligible project budget must be between €175,000 and €750,000.

Eligible personnel expenditure can include researchers, technical staff, support personnel and certain working partners, provided that their participation is included and justified within the Business Plan.

An eligible new PhD hire can increase the funding intensity, provided that the profile is directly linked to the company's core technology and meets the specific contractual requirements of the call.

The programme can finance tangible and intangible fixed assets, materials and consumables and specialised external services and subcontracting required to execute the Business Plan.

We structure these costs according to their technical purpose and review the applicable supplier, subcontracting and documentary requirements.

Subcontracting may account for up to 50% of the eligible budget.

NEOTEC can also support other expenditure linked to company development, including certain rental and utility costs, licences, industrial property, insurance, promotion and communication, training and eligible training-related travel.

NEOTEC Business Plan and application preparation

We transform the company's technology, market, team, development roadmap and financial requirements into an integrated Business Plan adapted to the NEOTEC application.

Turn your technology company into a structured and defensible NEOTEC proposal

We structure the technological starting point, state of the art, technical challenges, proprietary developments, intellectual property and R&D roadmap so that the proposal demonstrates why technology is the company's main competitive differentiator.

We prepare the NEOTEC Business Plan by integrating technology and innovation, commercial exploitation, market and business model, team capabilities, financial planning and expected socioeconomic impact.

We connect each planned expenditure with the activities and objectives of the Business Plan and structure investment, personnel, subcontracting, financing and revenue projections consistently with the company's development roadmap.

Before submission, we review the proposal against the aspects considered by CDTI to strengthen technological differentiation, commercial potential, team capabilities, execution consistency and expected impact.

Application, execution and justification

We support the company throughout the NEOTEC process, from electronic submission and administrative follow-up through project execution, modifications and technical and financial justification.

Manage NEOTEC beyond the initial application

We coordinate the electronic application, Business Plan, corporate documentation, financial information and other evidence required by CDTI.

The Business Plan is an essential part of the application and must therefore be fully prepared before submission.

We monitor the application and support the company in responding to requests for correction, clarification or additional documentation throughout the administrative and evaluation process.

After approval, we support documentary and economic monitoring of the project and help manage deviations or modifications affecting activities, budget or implementation.

We prepare and coordinate the technical execution report, financial report, expenditure documentation and auditor's report required to demonstrate the correct implementation of the approved Business Plan.
